WEIGHT OF BUTTER
DAIRY, COMPANIES’ APPEALS UPHELD. BY TELEGBAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Christchurch, November 3. Mr. Justice Chapman allowed the appeal, of the Central Co-operative Dairy Company against its conviction for selling short-weight butter. The Judge held that the defendant company was entitled to have the result of the weighing of six other packages of butter put before the Court, in the event of the result being favourable. He thought tho regulations contemplated that in the case of goods bke butter, the weighing of all packages should be as nearly as possible contemporaneous, and weighed on the same scale. He considered the high character of the company, and held that the case was not proved. ,■ A similar appeal by the Tai Tapu Dairy Company was also allowed.
