Stathaln, ALP., leader of the National Progressive and Afoderate Labour Party, addressed a public meeting here last night, dealing with the policy and aspirations of the party on (he same lines as in his northern speeches. Thcro was a largo attendance.
Tho final meeting of tho board of managers of the Petone Technical School as at present constituted was held on AVednsday night, Air. D. M'Kemtie presiding. Also present were: Messrs. G. T. London, AV. B. Nicholson, and R. 11. Jones. A payment of X 177 was received from the Education Board 1 , and accounts totalling J)l3 were passed for payment. On the motion of Air. London, a vote of thanks was accorded Air. Al'Kenzie for his services as chairman. Tho progress of work on Ihe City Council’s housing block nt Northland was last night reported upon as follows by the housing superintendent;—"Since niy last fortnightly report tho roof of houso on section 26 has been put on. The outside boarding of house on sectiofi 27 is now no. As tho sinter is well on with the work the roof will be on) in a day or two. The foundations of houso on section 28 are now in, and a start has been made with the timber work. Ths drainage is now in hand for these five houses, one having been now connected U P’” ,
