The grounds were In a vei-y bad state on Saturday for the continuation of the local competitions. The ground at Emerson Street was half under water, and in consequence the Suburbs-Athletic fixture was not played. At Newtown Park conditions were slightly better, but after a few minutes play the ground was a sea of mud, and good football was out of the question, l'etone met and defeated Newtown by 19 poluts to 3. This result leaves Suburbs one point in front of Petone, and the meeting between these teams will decide the winner of the oup for the season. Seniors. Pctone defeated Newtown at Newtown Park bv 19 points to 3. For the winners Kruse (2), Henderson, Porter, and Zimmerman scored tries, AVhltley converting two. For the loßers Breed scored a try. Mr. J.
