'' TIIE CURIOUS DEADLOCK. (Bt TeloEi-ajiU.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, August 28. According to the Mayor, who says that matters will probably "come to a head" directly, there is some chance of a definite move being made very soon in regard to the Dublin Street bridge contract over the Wanganui Kiver. The Mayers of Wanganui and Wanganui East recently visited Wellington to interview the Works Department, the contractor, and the lattw'e solicitors. It is understood that since then the last-named have forwarded a lettc-r containing important suggestion;, but the two Mayors decline to report anything just yet pending a conference of the Wanganui and Wnnganui Bast Borough Councils, which is to take place on. Friday. Meanwhile the scarcely-bogim bridge, standb forlorn and deserted.
