PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENTS.
Tho attractions that y.ill compete today lor public notice aire both numerous and varied. A trip that should bo popular is that of the Maori to Picton. Tho steamer will leave tho Queen's Wharf at 8 a.m. Among other attractions aro tho races at Trc-ntham, -tho Port Nicholson lacht Club's regatta and cricket matches at tne Basin between senior . and junior representatives of the Wellington Wednesday and Canterbury' Thursday Associations, and at Kelbnrne Part between the Canterbury and Wellington- Ladies' Cricket Association. A'gymkhana is announced on tho Petone Recreation Ground. Bowling will bo in progress on all tho local greens and the public gardens at Karori, Bellevito and T'aita will be open. The usual holiday range of railway, - tram, and harbour ferry excursions will be run. Wouderland, at Miramar, will be open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
:In tho evening tho Williamson company at tho Opera House will present "Tho -Lion and the Mouse" for tho last time. Special programmes of pictures will bo screened at' tho Town Hall, His Majesty's Theatre, King's Theatre, and St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown. ' An excellent vaudeville programme will be submitted at tho Theatre Royal.
