FEILDING.
Keon interest is being taken in tho coming election of councillors in the Pohangina County. Mr. Henry Smart and Mr. A. A. Wagstaff have both announced themselves as candidates for the Pohangina Riding. The election takes placo on November 11. A very large number of people attended tho annual Roman Catholic social in tho Feilding Drill Hall on Wednesday night. Tho funds of the church wero considerably augmented by the proceeds of tho social. The fifteenth annual report of the Feilding Permanent Building and Investment Society, which is to be presented to tho annual meeting to-morrow afternoon, contains the following:—"Your directors submit herewith thoir annual balance-sheet covering tho transactions of tho past year, which discloses a highly satisfactory position. It shows that the volume of business continues to increase, and that tho percentage of profit for the year has been well maintained. Sixty-six investment shares have been taken up during tho year. The two directors retiring.by rotation aro Messrs. Geo. Kirton and James Cornfoot."
