The incoming racing season promises to be the most attractive ever known in the Central. Lake County have again taken up their twodays annual fixture, a trotting club has been established at Alexandra t and Cromwell and Vincent, who were limited to one day during the war, have again secured the two-days fixture, Substantial increases in stakes are an outstanding feature, Cromwell leading the way with .£IOOO, and the others well up to that mark. Cromwell, Vincent, and the ti'otting meeting will constitute a circuit early in January, the Lakes fixture being about the middle of December, At a meeting of the Vincent Club on 4th inst, a motion to alter the dates from January Ist an I 2nd, to January 7th and B'h, was carried unanimously. A further meeting was held last Saturday, when a proposal to increase the stakes from X'ooo to £750 was also carried. The Lake County Club is again well on the way to a successful career, thanks to the enthusiasm and organising ability of that well-known spoi l, Mr It. Paterson. When nominated for the presidency at the annual meeting some months ago, Mr Paterson accepted on the condition that the finances of the club were put on a sound footing. An appeal to members bad the desired result and the chib now has a credit rtf well over three figures. At a recent meeting, December 17th and 18th were selected as tin; dates for the annual race meeting, the sum of £BOO to be offered in stakes. The principle of two class trots (5.15 and !.<*) was adopted, and also the system of yards handicapping.
