COURT ROYAL OAK OF KAWARAU, A.O.F.

0 The anniversary ball and supper of the above Court, which was held at Richards’s Bannock, burn Hotel on Friday evening last, was one o the most successful affairs of the kind we have had the pleasure of attending, and reflected in- , finite credit upon the officers and members of the Court, of whom there were a large number present. The viands were of the best description, and the tables were laid with taste, reflecting much credit upon the host and hostess and their chef de cuisine, Mr C. Harding. Full justice was done to the good things with which the tables were loaded, and the usual toasts then followed. P.C. R, Bro. Fraer, at the request of C.R. Bro. Marshall (on behalf of the oficers of Court Royal Oak) occupied the chair, aid satisfactorily performed the duties appertahing to the post of honor. The Chairman, in a short speech in which he dwell o» the advantages of hiving a good local journal like the Argus, proposed “The Press,” 1 coupled with the name of Mr G. Fenwick, who responded. “The Host and Hostess” was then ■ proposed, and a high tribute vas paid to their i care and attention in catering for the entertaini ment.
