CLYDEVALE BRANCH: A meeting of the 'Clydevale branch of the Farmers' Union was held in .the hall on Saturday, when there were present Messrs F. Bunn (chairman), J. McKenzie, H. IMorrisom, Miliar, E. F. Pan-

nett, D. Weir, IMillar, 'E. Keilly, A. €. Kee, A. King, IHasbnrgh, v Paisley, "R. Pnterson, A. E. Mitchell and the secretary. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the deputation which waited on the River Board, aiid the secretary was instructed to write thanking Mr ftamsay for his support.

It was decided to write to the €lutha Farmers' Union expressing appreciation of its action in calling special j meetings of delegates from country . branches, and expressing willingness to j pay share of expenses of such meetings; j also to ask that in future such meetings ['might ibe called for the afternoon to ('allow farmers from a distance to get home the same night. After a good deal of discussion on the proposal to appoint a Dominion Trades Commissioner, it was decided 1 to •forward the following recommendation to the Executive 'Council: "That in the opinion of this 'meeting we should have 'a Trades Commissioner to work in conjunction with the High' Commissioner's office; that the meeting support the appointment of same, ibut suggest that kuch appointment should not be made till a later date.

J t was resolved to petition the Minister of Agriculture to retain 'Mr Smith in the district, and) that the petition be handed round for signature. 'A lengthy discussion ensued on the proposal to procure a sleeping hut for the threshing mill, and ultimately a 'committee was elected with power to proceed with the acquiring of a suitable hut, providing the cost was reasonable and. that a guarantee of sufficient shareholders was forthcoming, share to Vie 'fixed at £2 10s.

The. secretary was instructed to ask Mr Malcolm to arrange a date to meet farmers and others interested at.Clydevale.
