TRIP TO QUEENSTOWN,

A party of bowlers from the Stirling Club and lady friends left by the first express on Saturday morning for Queenstowu. They were Mr and Mrs A. H. Anderson, Mr and Mrs George Anderson, Mr aud Mrs W. Smith, Mr and Mrs R. Ford, Mr and Mrs D. Boyd, Mr and Mrs J. Esson, and Messrs A. N. Hislop and P. MeSkimming. A most enjoyable trip across the lake in the Earnscleugh brought them to Queenstowu at 7.30 in the evening, where mine host of the Mountaineer Hotel (Mr J. S. Collins) quartered the visitors. The party speak highly of the courteous treatment received here at the hands of the proprietor, and this popular house and his staff. Saturday night was given to seeing the pictures, while -on Sunday .several went to the Chapman-Alexander mission, others taking a run across to the Kawarua Falls.

Monday morning was cloudy, but in the afternoon the sky cleared and there was a fine afternoon, when a pairs match was played against Queenstown, three of the Stirling rinks being up,, but the fourth was down by 27 points, putting Queenstowu winners of the match by two points, the scores being 76-74. in the evening an inspection of the Queenstown waterworks was made. The ladies went by launch to the Kawarua Falls in the afternoon.

.Next day the party drove to Arrowtown, going by drag via Kawarua Falls and Lake Hayes route. The bowlers had the pleasure of putting the Arrow men down by 61 points (102-41), every Stirling pair being up. The return drive was by the Shotover route. The ladies, true to instinct and holiday custom, sallied forth in the evening to inspect Queenstown feminine fashions as seen on the street and in shop windows, while the menfolk sought pleasant recreation according to their inclinations. At 8.43 on Wednesday morning the party left Queenstown and, the morning being beautifully fine, had another enjoyable sail across the lake. They returned home by the evening express, and are full of praises for the hospitality of the Queenstown people and admiration for the trip, which they advise all who can to take advantage of while the railway excursion lasts. Several intend to make the trip again next year.
