Wheat. — A. moderately fair demand is experienced, more especially for prime milling velvet. Millers are operating quietly, and, although their purchases are not very extensive, all ffoer- I ing in good condition is taken up at late current I rates. Advices from Home continue discouraging and there is bnt little hope for much improvement within mensureable distance in the j)ositiou of the local market. Quotations : For prime milling 1 velvet 2s lOd to 2s lid— extra, choice 3s ; medium to good do and Tuscan ?s 8d to 2s 9d ; medium to good red wheat 2s 5d to 2a 7d ; medium to good whole fowls' wheat 2s 2d to 2s 5d ; inferior and broken Is 9d to 2s (ex store, sucks weighed in, terms). Oats. — The demand is not by any means brisk hut daily a few sales are being effected, chiefly of short stout, bright-coloured descriptions, but at pricea showing a slight drop compared with late quotations. The bulk of the oats now in store are only of very medium quality, and to effect sales of these, unles? the unexpected were to happen, lower prices will doubtless have to be accepted. Quotations : For best bright feed and milling Is 4§d to Is ofd ; medium to good feed Is 4d to 13 Sid ; inferior to medium Is 2d to Is 3Ad : bright long Tartarians, fit for seed Is 6d to Is 7i'l (ex store, sacks extra, net.) Barley there is no demand for feed, and but little for milling. Quotations : for best malting 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; medium 3s to 3s 3d ; milling 2s 3d to 2s v)d ; feed Is 3d to Is 9d (ex store, sacks extra). Grass Seeds.— Market quiet. Good to best machine dressed ryegrass seed is held for 2s 9d to 3s 3d : choice guaranteed perennial, 3s 6d to 43 (ex store, net, sneks extra).— Cookafoofc ; Best dressed 5A to 6id ; medium 4d to 5d per lb Potatoes.— Market glutted, and sales difficult to effect. Quotations nominal — say for best Derwents 40s to 45s ; medium 353 to 37s Gil per ton (ex store, sacks, weighed in, net) ; kidneys, no demand of any consequence. Dairy Produce. — .No apparent alteration and no demand of any,, consequencs exists. Quotations : For prime salt dsiiry-made butter 6A to 7 Ad ; medium 4d to b'd ; factory made 9d to'lOd per lb. Factory made cheese, slow sale ; medium size retailed at 4-2 1 ; loaf shape 4M to 5d per lb.
