FOOTBALL NOTES.

(By Red-and-White.) I did not publish a full report of the play in the Olutha v. Clinton match, as is my custom in reporting the first match of the season, played on Thursday last, owing to the lateness of the hourr "So I reserve my criticism of individual play till I see the form displayed by the team when they meet Kaitangata here to-morrow. The match com mittee have picked ; Backs — B. Stewart, W. Grant, F. Tyson, J. Fleming, W. Finn, W. Pennycook; forwards— Bain (capt.j, Wylie, M'Kenzie, Black, Lattimer, C. Sievwright, Hawker, Joseph, Sheehan. Emergencies : Backs — J. Finn, P. Mason ; forwards — J. Wyber, D. Sievwright. Players are requested to be on the ground at 2.30 sharp. Owaka v. Caversham. — The Owaka team met Caversham for the return match at St. Clair Park on Queen's Birthday. The play during the first spell was especially interesting and even ; Owaka's forwards, headed by Gow, making things very warm, although no score resulted. The second spell was also very tight, but Caversham managed to score, thus winning by 3 points. The Caversham players entertained their visitors light royally, in the morning , driving them to- the waterfalls, and in the evening a dinner and concert was provided. Milton v. CaverKham. — On Saturday last Milton got rather badly done by Caversham by 12 points to nil. Kaitangata visit Owaka on Saturday, 9th inst.
