OWAKI SCHOOL.

On Friday, llfch December, the Owaki School broke up for the Christmas. holi» days. On the walls of the room were neat specimens of writing, mapping, drawing, &c. At the beginning of the year, the pupils were promised a first and second prize to the' girls in each Standard, and the same to the boys in each Standard. The decision was to rest on how they passed the Inspector's annual examination ; if a tie occurred, then the one who had best attended school should win. . In accordance with those terras, the pi'izes were distributed by the. Rev. W. G. M'Laren, in the presenoo of several of the parents, who oume to see the distribution," and to examine the workmanship.. The prizes for sewing were decided by Mrs M'Laren and Mrs Harle.
