Blake keeps lead
PA London The New Zealand maxi yacht, Steinlager 2, continues to be among the frontrunners as the Whitbread round the world fleet heads down the coast of Portugal. According to the latest reported positions (6 p.m. New Zealand time yesterday), Steinlager was at the head of the field, with 4900 miles to go to reach Punta del Este, at the end of the first leg, on the coast of Uruguay. However, that was confused by the fact that the British entry, Rothmans, failed to report a position. The Swiss entry, Merit, is second while the other New Zealand entry, Fisher and Paykel, was fourth.
