Clerk stole to gamble
PA Wellington A Justice Department clerk has pleaded guilty in the District Court at Wellington to a charge of theft as a servant. Uiga Uiga, aged 23, from Porirua, stole $4653 from the department between May 1 and July 7. The Court heard on Tuesday that the money, from payments for fines, had been used for gambling. Judge Jaine convicted Uiga and remanded him on bail until September 19 for a probation report and sentence.
