Detention for indecent assault on two boys
PA Wellington The impact of offences on two young boys had been enormous, Judge Silvia Cartwright told a man appearing for sentence on two charges of indecent assault on boys under 12 years. In the District Court, at Upper Hutt, the man, whose name was suppressed, was sentenced to
four months periodic detention and 12 months supervision during which he is to have special counselling. Judge Cartwright said reports showed the defendant had a serious depressive illness. The offences had had an enormous impact on the complainants and had occurred as a result of some degree of coercion.
