Judge refuses bail

A man, aged 37, accused of setting fire to St Paul’s Church in central Auckland was refused bail by a judge yesterday. Gerard Lambton Peter Carter, an order man, of no fixed address, appeared before Judge John Cadenhead in the District Court in Auckland and was remanded to September 4.
