Remand again for pair
PA Wellington A father and son, Arthur and Vaughan Morley, have been remanded again without being sentenced on GST fraud charges. Early last month the two men were found guilty during a week-long trial in the District Court
at Wellington of offences from which they were alleged to have received more than $115,000 from the Inland Revenue Department. They were to have been sentenced on Friday, but Judge Rabone had to remand the two on bail until August 29 because a psychiatric report on
Vaughan Morley was not ready. Judge Rabone said he was disappointed that there should be such a long delay between conviction and sentence. The alternative was to sentence without the report, so a further adjournment might, he said, be the lesser of two evils.
