Holidays turn sour
A Spanish air charter firm, Hispania, yesterday went into temporary receivership, leaving 27,500 holidaymakers stranded all over Europe. Hispania, faced with debts of SNZ2B million and its nine aircraft grounded, made the move because’ it could not raise the $NZ560,000 needed to pay off Guinness Peat Aviation for the lease of five planes. Other Spanish travel and charter firms yesterday decided in Palma de Majorca they were unable to help get the stranded tourists home. — NZPArPA.
