Inquiries to be stepped up
The police will step up their inquiries if the missing Christchurch schoolgirl, Channell Angeline Bennett, is not found by next Monday. Senior-Sergeant Mike Moore, of the City South police, said there were still no fears for the girl’s safety, but he was eager she respond to calls to get in touch with her mother, Mrs Angel Bennett. Channell, aged 11, left her Phillipstown home on May 17 with her mother’s former de facto husband, Mr Matthew Waldron Bishop, aged 31. Senior-Sergeant Moore said the girl left with Mr Bishop willingly.
