Police appoint commanders
PA . Wellington Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Rusbatch has announced the appointment of two new regional commanders. Chief Superintendent Bruce Scott has been promoted to assistant commissioner and is the new Region 2 commander. He will take over from Assistant Commissioner lan. Bird who has been appointed to chief staff officer at Police National Headquarters. Chief Superintendent Ron Joyce has been promoted to assistant commissioner and the Region
4 commander’s position. He will take over from Assistant Commissioner Peter Mairs, who has retired. Both new commanders will start their new positions shortly. Chief Superintendent Scott, aged 48, has been a policeman for 31 years. He has been the Wellington services commander since April last year. Assistant Commissioner Joyce, aged 53, began his 31-year police career in Auckland in 1958. He is currently the Auckland central district commander.
