Squash bid fails
NZPA-Reuter London Australian veteran Geoff Hunt failed in his bid to turn back the clock at the British Open squash championships yesterday. The 42-year-old, eight-times champion lost a 98-minute secondround marathon 10-8, 5-9, 8-10, 10-8, 9-5 to the Swedish No. 1, Anders Wahlstedt —- a defeat which cost him a nostalgic rematch with the defending champion, Jahangir Khan. Hunt was the last man to inflict a British Open defeat on Jahangir when he won their 1981 final. Since then the Pakistani world No. 1 has been invincible at the Open and this year could equal Hunt’s tally of triumphs.
