Eccles bought for cash by Ebos
PA Wellington Ebos Group, the listed Christchurch-based medical company, has bought Auck-land-based L. J. Eccles for an undisclosed cash sum. L. J. Eccles was started in 1976 by Mr Laurie Eccles to package and sterilise medical and surgical products, especially dressings. Ebos’s chief executive, Mr Mark Waller, said the acquisition would enable the group to expand into export markets and capitalise on increasing demand for sterile single use medical and surgical products in Australia and New Zealand. Eccles would run as an independent subsidiary’ of Ebos, which is controlled by Theseus Investments through buying 62.6 per cent of Ebos from Brierley Investments last year. All of Eccles staff would be retained. Mr Waller and Mr Maurice Ryan, of Ebos, will join the board of Eccles as chairman and director respectively.
