Matches set for netball
PA Wellington Australia will play three tests and three regional matches in New Zealand during this year’s Milo international series, the New Zealand Netball Association said. The N.Z.N.A. organising secretary, Julia Burgess, said the test matches will be in Auckland on April 26, Palmerston North on April 29 and Dunedin on May 3. “While in previous years, the Milo series has consisted of test matches only, this year, additional matches featuring Australia have been organised as part of the series,” she said. The additional matches, against regional invitation sides, will be in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch on April 24, April 27 and May 1. Before the first test, the New Zealand Young Internationals’ northern squad will play Counties; before the second Taranaki will meet Wanganui; and before the third New Zealand Young Internationals’ southern squad will face Southland. The N.Z.N.A. also announced that the former national coach, Lois Muir (Otago), the new coach Lyn Parker (Waikato), and a former New Zealand under 21 coach, Marian Smith (North Shore), had been appointed 1989 selectors after a postal ballot.
