UfflOUE MANAGEMENT oWwfwties MARLBOTOUGH The formation of the Marlborough District Council will result in a local authority with combined expenditure of approximately $2O million and combined staff numbers of approximately 250 persons. The success of the District Council will be vital to ensure the direction and continuation of the already rapid development of Marlborough. We are assisting the Chief Executive of the Council with appointments of certain key executives. m«TOR — MAGEMT SERVICES The position reports directly to the Chief Executive and is one of four positions at the Directorate level. It involves total responsibility for the functions of: @ Secretarial and administration © Management information services © Treasury and accounting The person must have a strong background in financial management and corporate administration, although not necessarily in the public sector. An innovative approach, proven problem solving skills and the ability to develop and manage a multidisciplined management services group will be key attributes. A tertiary qualification in finance or accounting will be essential together with a good understanding of modern data processing techniques. BISECTOR — AND INSPECTORATE This position is critical in the development and implementation of Council policy and in particular that relating to land usage and the Marlborough maritime area. The successful applicant will report directly to the Chief Executive and be responsible for the functions of: @ Planning © Inspectorate The person must be suitably qualified and have experience at a senior level in organisations involved in the development and control of resources in both a rural and an urban environment. The ability to develop innovative approaches to development issues will be important. Vital to both positions will be the ability to play a full role within the senior management group and to demonstrate people skills which will'ensure the development of a team approach by subordinates. While flexible as to age it is unlikely that persons under 35 years will have had sufficient senior management experience to meet the requirements for either position. The remuneration package for both positions is negotiable, however given the seniority of the positions it will be most realistic and may include a motor vehicle. The initial appointment will be by way of a contract for a period of three years, such contract including a probationary period of six months. The location of both positions is Blenheim which is recognised as a provincial centre with a highly desirable climate and environment for recreation and family living.
