Bank teller struck
A Christchurch bank teller was allegedly struck with a dumb-bell by a male customer on Friday, the police said yesterday. Detective Sergeant Kieran Kortegast said a man and woman entered the Sydenham branch of Trustßank and the woman allegedly made an attempt to commit a fraud offence. “The staff realised that something was wrong and called the police,” said Detective Sergeant Kortegast. “At this point the male struck one of the bank staff with a dumb-bell." The woman was arrested on a charge of false pretence. The man was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault. Both appeared in the District Court yesterday.
