Dog deters burglars
Two armed men who attempted to rob the Caranda Dairy on Saturday evening made a hasty exit after being confronted by the shop owner and his Dobermann dog. The masked robbers, one armed with a rifle and the other with a knife, entered the dairy, on the corner of Cashel Street and England Street, shortly after 8 p.m. They demanded money from the owner but fled after being growled at by the dog. The pair grabbed a handbag containing about $3OO on their way out. The robbers wore what appeared to be fencing masks made of gauze. The man believed to be carrying a rifle concealed under a grey blanket, was described as being of slim build, 177 cm tall, of a dark complexion and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. The other man is of a similar height and wore a green hooded sweatshirt.
