N.Z. Post
Sir, —I, too, wonder about the efficiency of N.Z. Post. My daughter sent me a birthday letter to Sydney, where I was staying with my son. It was posted on July 16. The envelope bears a Christchurch postmark, “Noon 17th July,” also a Queenstown postmark, “5 p.m. 18th July,” and was delivered in Sydney after my departure on July 26. Why did it have to go via Queenstown? (P.S. I will deliver this letter to you by hand.) — Yours, etc., P. CHAPMAN. September 21, 1988.
Sir,—l am happy to let you know that a letter was posted to me by ordinary (not Fast Post) mail from Rangiora at 6 a.m. on September 19 and it reached our letter-box at Halswell at 11.30 a.m. on the same day. Unfortunately, shortfalls in services to the public are often reported in letters to the Editor, but we see few letters expressing praise for the services, which are mainly very efficient. — Yours, etc., BRUCE McLEOD. September 20,1988.
Sir,—On Monday, September 19, I posted a card from Aranui Post Office to my son in Auckland. The post office assured me it would arrive in Auckland the next day, which was his birthday. On September 21, my son rang, upset, saying he had received nothing from his family for his birthday. Why had we forgotten him? No more Fast Post for me so that N.Z. Post receives 30c extra for nothing. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) P. JESSOP. September 21, 1988.
