Sunbed-cancer link
NZPA-PA London People in search of an all-year-round tan have been warned that using a sunbed greatly increases their risk of getting skin cancer. Research by a team of dermatologists at Glasgow and Edinburgh universities show sunbed enthusiasts are nine times more likely to suffer skin cancer after five years of
using the tanning devices. The findings, published in the “British Medical Journal,” suggest more recent users run three times the normal risk of ending up with cancer. It is the first big survey to establish a link between sunbeds and skin cancer, or malignant melanoma, although there have been suspicions for some time.
