Limited demand for deer
Restricted demand for adult and yearling hinds was a feature of the Totara Flat deer sale on Monday, the first deer auction on the West Coast this season. Many animals were showing the signs of the cold, wet winter and live-weights were generally light. Sales included: First and second-calving hinds: T. and D. S. Mitchell (Hari Hari), 4 at $470; L. J. Guenole (Kumara), 4 at $4OO. Mixed-age hinds: J. Eakin (Coal Creek), 10 at $260 to $440; R. D. Morrison (Mananui) 5 at $500; L. J. Guenole, 5 at $4OO. Rising yearling hinds: Green and Gillespie (Hokitika), 4 at $300; Aden Corporation (Kowhitirangi), 6 at $3lO. Sire stags: R. and D. Morrison, 2 at $3BO and $4OO.
