Month of Sundays
The Repertory Theatre’s fourth production of the year is “A Month of Sundays” by Bob Larbey (of “The Good Life” and “A Fine Romance”). The role of Cooper is one of the big roles of modern theatre, played in the West End by George Cole. Cooper is on stage the entire time in his room in the rest home in which he has chosen to live and be looked after. The role is played for Repertory by William Cook, a professional actor of many years in Britain, now retired in New Zealand. Cooper’s friend Aylott is played by Patrick Dowman; his favourite nurse, Wilson, by Vivienne Milsom (a newcomer to Repertory); the friendly, energetic cleaning lady, Mrs Baker, by Juliette Wilkinson. The only members of the family the audience sees are Julia, Cooper’s daughter, and her husband, Peter, played by Lynn Williams and Colin Alexander. The season runs from September 24 until October 1. The direction is by Penny Giddens.
