Two charged with med. centre burglary
Two men will appear in the District Court this morning charged with the burglary of the North New Brighton Medical Centre yesterday morning. Police said that a patrol had seen two men walking in Bowhill Road, North New Brighton, . carrying a brown council rubbish bag at 6.15 a.m. yesterday. When they saw the patrol car, they
dropped the bag and ran, but were soon caught. Police said that they found a variety of prescription medicines and poisons, including temgesic tablets, in the bag and in the men’s possession. Later inquiries showed that the North New Brighton Medical Centre in Travis Road had been burgled overnight and a quantity of similar items stolen.
The door to the centre had been jemmied open and the building ransacked. A man, aged 29, was to appear in court this morning charged with burglary and possession of prescription medicines, and a man, aged 23, was to appear charged with burglary and possession of instruments of burglary. Both were to remain in police custody overnight.
