Waihopai women end protest camp
Women protesters outside the satellite communications site in Waihopai Valley broke camp at the week-end. The women, who set up the protest camp in May, felt they had achieved what they set out to do, said Ms Glenda Hunnisett. It had been “a pretty rugged winter” and it was time to move on. The Marlborough County Council had put “a bit of pressure” on the farmer whose land they were camped on. The farmer had been supportive throughout the protest, and the

It was a shame the i Government was pert sisting with building at i the base, said Ms Hun--1 nisett. The women would i continue with protests t throughout New Zeai land, she said.
