Cricket match drawn
NZPA-Reuter Southampton, England Sri Lanka yesterday spurned the chance of going into this week’s first test against England with a moraleboosting first win oyer county opposition. The touring team was set a tempting target of 274 to beat Hampshire in 47 overs on the final day of the three-day match but refused to get involved in a race for runs. Needing less than six an over on a perfect batting wicket, the Sri Lankans crawled to 106 for one, settling for a draw.
