Canty touring team
Providing no disasters strike the Canterbury rugby team at training this evening, the squad to travel north on Friday for the first of two national championship matches on a short tour will be the same as that which appeared against Taranaki last Saturday. The squad is:— , Backs 1 Shayne Philpott, Richard Connell, Mark Vincent, Joe Leota, Andrew McCormick, Michael Lake, Warwick Taylor, Stephen Bachop, Bruce Deans, Graeme Bachop. Forwards: Andy Earl, Stephen Dods, Robin Penney, Grant Mickell, Chris England, Albert Anderson, Kerry Pauling, Tala Kele, Brent Harvey, John Buchan, John Mills. ■ • Canterbury’s first opponent will be North Auckland at Okara Park, Whangarei, on Saturday and it will meet Waikato in Hamilton on Tuesday. The Canterbury team to play North Auckland will be named after training this evening.
