Meat shake-up cleared
PA Wellington Deals involving the South Island meat industry shakeup, including the acquisition by Fletcher Challenge of a stake in Waitaki International, have gained Commerce Commission clearance. The Commission said it was satisfied the deals would not result in any party gaining a
dominant position in markets
for stock procurement or the provision of killing facilities in the South Island. The commission found that in each of three particular markets for killing facilities, the post merger operations of the partiepants would ensure that no company would have a dominant position.
