Better society
Sir, —I ask Paul de Spa (June 14) not to lump all political parties in one basket. Election billboards for the Democrats proclaimed “Putting People First” (that is now added to their logo). Mr de Spa should investigate before he declares that the “newly formed party” is unique in its concern for people. In 1934, Mr M. J. Savage, M. P., wrote to a citizen that Labour” ... is pledged to provide purchasing power which will equal production. We claim that there is no other solution of the economic depression that is crucifying humanity today. The Douglas Credit movement expresses Itself in similar terms //.people who are aiming at the same goal as myself ... My mission in life is to make the wealth of the country available to the producers ... giving thein the equivalent of their product in purchasing power. The movement , having the same objective.” The Democrats, say .they are what Labour used to be. I rest my /case. Yours, etc., '> VENETTA B. PALMER. June 14, 1988.
