Alleged attack on M.O.T. officers
Four traffic officers were allegedly assaulted during a scuffle with the occupants of a car in Pages Road early yesterday.
A Ministry of Transport spokesman said traffic officers went to the area after "receiving a call about a vehicle causing problems near a service station on Pages Road. A policeman was talking to the occupants of the vehicle by the time traffic officers arrived.
One of the occupants allegedly abused and threatened a traffic officer. The policeman arrested the person and the other five or so occupants allegedly obstructed him. Four traffic officers helping the police were assaulted, but escaped with only minor injuries, the Ministry spokesman said.
Several youths have been arrested and charged over the incident.
