Teachers to stop work over bill
State primary school teachers will hold stopwork meetings in the second week of the first term to consider the State Sector Bill and its implications for teaching. Central South Island meetings will be held in Greymouth on February 8, Christchurch on Febru-
ary 10 and Timaru on February 11. The State Sector Bill introduced to Parliament last year could allow Government political appointments in the Government departments, and would transfer control of some Education Department functions to the State Services Commission.
