Factory accident
A young man suffered serious hand injuries in an accident with a boring machine at the Avondale Furniture Group, Ltd, in Shortland Street, yesterday. The accident occurred just after 1 p.m.
The machine had to be dismantled to free the man, aged 18. He was taken by ambulance to Christchurch Hospital with two drills embedded in his hand. The victim’s name was unavailable last evening.
