The third day of the South Island under-16 cricket competition held in Nelson yesterday, resulted: Canterbury minors 234/7 (J. Paul 79, S. Keast 39, R. Bellis 34; R. King 3/42, D. McKelvie 2/49) beat Otago minors 176 (S. Forde 52, N. -Broughton 29; G. Miller 3/19, H. Notthee 3/64, J. Paul 2/30). Canterbury Red 179 (C. Fairbairn 50, B. Dick 50, P. Harrison 25; A. Ferris 5/44, R. Allison 3/39) beat Canterbury Black 87 (S. Fleming 47; G. Hurley 3/21, B. Davis 3/ 10, V. Hartland 2/8). Tasman 129/9 (J. Higgins 38; P. Scholten 4/37, T. Ballyntine 4/38) lost to Otago 131/7 (J. Billicliff 40, C. Mee 35; J. Higgins 3/46, G. Symonds 3/37). Points: Canterbury Red 18, Otago 12, Canterbury Black 12, Tasman 6, Canterbury minors 6, Otago minors 0.
