Gatting popular
PA Hamilton The England cricket captain, Mike Gatting, is much more popular with Hamilton spectators than Pakistani umpires. At the week-end, the chunky Londoner lined up a series of youthful autograph seekers while he sat down to oblige them at Seddon Park, during the second firstclass match in New Zealand against Northern Districts. And on Monday when England embarked on a successful fourth innings run chase for victory, Gatting did not bat again himself but sent in players who had had little or no first innings opportunity. Instead, he embarked in shorts on a circuit of Seddon Park.
