Sir, —David Shanks (January 20) is again drawing a large red herring across the controversy over the origin of morals by going into a long and quibbling disertation on Hume’s and my philosophies. I am not at all interested in this side-tracking till he answers my question, now thrice repeated: “Why is he (David Shanks) in favour of marriage as an institution?” I asked this in order to elucidate his own ideas about the source of morals. If he persists in dodging that issue, I will have to draw my 'own conclusions about his reluctance to answer: — Yours, etc., VERNON WILKINSON. January 20, 1988.
