Prices surveyed
Wellington Reporter There has been an 11 per cent drop in the price of four-pack toilet paper rolls, and an 18 per cent rise in annual subscriptions to tennis clubs. These are the most extreme movements shown in a new Statistics Department survey. The department has published a weighted average of retail prices surveyed in 25 urban areas between August and N ovember, 1987.
The survey areas included Nelson, Blenheim, Greymouth, Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru. There were 16 North Island centres and nine in the South Island. Another substantial fall was of 7.7 per cent in colour television sets; two other substantial rises were 12.3 per cent for men’s felt slippers and 11.9 per cent in boys casual sports shorts. There were 78 items surveyed.
