Taylor wins series in quick time
John Taylor raced home ahead of Grant Poultney in this year’s Computerland jet boat race series, the last race of which was held on the Waimakariri River on Saturday.
He completed the series in 7hr 32min 33s and his time was considered to be fast because of rivers’ running low and many of the streams led drivers into unboatable parts of the river. Grant Poultney had to settle for second after almost making up the 3min he trailed. With victory in sight, Poultney approached a corner too fast and his boat spun out onto the bank. It took him and his wife smin to pusii the boat back into the river.
Mike and Dave Pooley
