Herlihy, McKendry out on own
The top North Island reinsmen, Tony Herlihy and Maurice McKendry, are once again in a race of their own for this season’s reinsmen’s premiership. With three wins each over the week-end Herlihy (35 wins) and McKendry (33 wins), have extended their lead over the rest of the field, headed by the Hamiltonbased junior horseman,
Peter Ferguson, with 22 wins. Richard Brosnan and Michael de Filippi, who both gained one driving win each at Orari on Saturday, head the list of the South Island reinsmen, both with 18 wins to this stage of the season.
