Sumner arts
An arts festival for Sumner is the subject of a public meeting in the seaside suburb on Monday. The Sumner Residents’ Association wants to gauge support from residents in the area for a festival. Should the support be evident the association will investigate means of funding a festival. The group sees the festival concentrating on the area east of the Ferry-
mead Bridge, where it believes there are plenty of venues. The festival would include a variety of musical, theatrical, visual art and performing arts events. The association is keen for support from city residents outside the Sumner ‘area also. The meeting, which will begin at 7.30 p.m., will be at' the Sumner School Hall in Wiggins Street
