Charge of assault dismissed
The man who was charged by the police with assaulting the wife of a Cabinet Minister, Mr Mike Moore, during an incident over the delivery of political pamphlets on August 12 had the charge dismissed in the District Court yesterday. The defendant, Stefan Musielinski, aged 63, a retired technician, was to have defended a charge yesterday of assaulting Yvonne Daniella Moore.
The prosecutor, Sergeant W. P. Creasey, sought leave for the charge to be withdrawn, but defence counsel, Mr S. C. Taylor, asked that the charge be dismissed on its merits.
Judge Guest acceded to this course.
Sergeant Creasey said the matter had been very thoroughly investigated since the charge was first laid.
The police no longer considered the circumstances justified proceeding with the charge.
With no evidence offered by the police, the Judge i’ dismissed the chargel
