Levin members approve scheme
PA Levin The members of the Levin Racing Club have given the club’s stewards a mandate to join the proposed Horowhenua racing consortium with the Otaki Maori Racing Club.
At Sunday’s special meeting the club members voted 70 to 28 to go ahead with the formation of the consortium.
Negotiations between the Levin and the Otaki Maori Racing Clubs have taken seven months and the decision will lead to a strengthening of the racing industry in the Horowhenua region, the Levin club said in a statement.
The consortium would manage both courses, with the Levin racecourse promoted as a major training and trials centre and Otaki developed as a modern racing complex.
