Big rent rise for club
A Paparua County Council policy to bring club leases to a uniform level has resulted in a huge rental increase for the Hornby Rugby League Club. The club, which has paid $5O a year for the last 14 years will now pay $695, plus GST. The Halswell Rugby League Club faced a smaller increase, ’ from
$224 to $397 a year. However, most of the other clubs fared better and registered small decreases in their yearly rent. The council’s community recreation adviser, Mr Peter Walls, said this would bring the organisation’s leases into line with the council’s ■ uniform lease policies.
